We CARE Therapy Services for Special Needs Children

In November of 2014 Tyrone Regional Health Network, working with ProCare Therapy created We CARE Therapy Services. We CARE was established to fill a gap that occurred when a long time provider of pediatric therapy for special needs children announced it was closing its Altoona/Blair County facility.

We CARE is an organization that provides a variety of therapy services for children with special needs. It serves children and families in Blair County and surrounding areas.

Children with special needs are those who may need extra help or support because of a medical, emotional, or learning problem that affects their ability to develop properly.

Examples of children with special needs include those with autism, Down’s Syndrome, Asperger’s disease, fetal alcohol syndrome ad attention deficit disorder.
We CARE Therapy Services are available for special needs children from birth to eighteen years of age. Therapy services offered at We CARE include early intervention services for children from birth to age three, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language therapy, feeding and swallowing therapy, sensory integration therapy and special instruction.

We CARE Therapy Services are provided by highly skilled and experienced professional staff who are specialized in working with children who have special needs.

Children who receive therapy services at We CARE begin by having a thorough evaluation. Then, an individualized treatment plan is developed to address each child’s unique needs and circumstances. Some children may need to participate in more than one type of therapy.

We CARE Therapy staff works closely with children’s parents and other family members. They teach family members methods and techniques that can be used at home during family time and at play that can support and promote what your child achieves in therapy sessions.

Services are offered by appointment in the day and evening to accommodate parent and family schedules.

We CARE understands that choosing care and services for your child is an important decision, especially if your child has special needs.

Leaders from Tyrone Regional Health Network (TRHN) and ProCare Therapy have also created the We CARE Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide therapeutic equipment, address facility issues and other items needed to provide therapy services to area children with special needs.

The We CARE Foundation is also creating a program where donors can sponsor a child to provide financial assistance to families where they may not have insurance, where insurance benefits have been exhausted, or for transportation or other identified financial need.

Donations to the We CARE Foundation are welcome and appreciated. Checks may be made payable to We CARE Foundation – CPCF and mailed to the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation 1330 11th Avenue, Altoona PA 16601.
