Bonnie J. Miller will retire from Tyrone Hospital on March 29th after thirty – two years of service.
Mrs. Miller has worked as an abstractor and data analyst in the Health Information Management Department (HIM) for the past twenty-six years. Prior to joining the HIM department, she worked for more than five years in the hospital’s central registration department starting as part-time status and later moving to a full -time position.
A long-time resident of the Sinking Valley area, Mrs. Miller was a stay at home mom until she decided to enter the workforce. She said she had her sights set on working at Tyrone Hospital and was pleased when she was offered a position. It was an employment relationship that last for decades. “I’ve always liked working at Tyrone Hospital”, said Mrs. Miller. “I love the wooded campus and the people here. It has always been my second family. I will really miss my co-workers.”
As a long- time hospital employee, Mrs. Miller experienced much change over the course of her career. When she first started her job as an abstractor, abstracting was just beginning in healthcare. During her work years, she saw hospital systems move from paper to electronic and significant increases in hospital documentation requirements. “It was always challenging, keeping up with changes and new requirements,” said Mrs. Miller.
In retirement Mrs. Miller looks forward to enjoying simple pleasures including sleeping in, not having to drive in winter weather, doing daily chores at a more leisurely pace and more time to enjoy the country environment of her sinking valley home. She also welcomes the additional time she will have with her family which includes her husband, adult sons, grandchildren and her mother.
The Tyrone Regional Health Network family extends deepest gratitude to Mrs. Miller for her many years of service at Tyrone Hospital and warmest wishes to her on her upcoming retirement.
