Carole Chismar (Grazier), Medical Technologist retired from her position in the Tyrone Hospital Laboratory on September 30th after thirteen years of service.
Mrs. Chismar is a native of Blair County and since 1984 has resided in the Martinsburg area.
A graduate of Penn State University, her career started at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She took a break from work for several years to stay home and raise her family. She returned to the workforce in 2004 when she joined Tyrone Hospital.
During her career at Tyrone, she worked in all area of the hospital’s laboratory but was primarily responsible for the microbiology area of the Lab. She says her experience at Tyrone has been very interesting and she always felt the hospital was a good fit for her, professionally and culturally.
Of special note is that Mrs. Chismar and her husband are both retiring in the same time frame.
In retirement, she looks forward to spending more time with her family which includes her husband and four sons and eight grandchildren. All reside within a short driving distance.
She also hopes to indulge more in her varied interests which include needlepoint and playing piano along with camping and water related activities such as swimming, boating and canoeing.
Mrs. Chismar also looks forward to identifying a volunteer opportunity that will be a good match for her interest in helping others.
Mrs. Chismar was recognized by hospital leaders and her co-workers at a special reception held on her last day of work.
