Laura Bankert, RN of Tyrone Hospital has been promoted to the position of Performance Improvement Manager.
As Performance Improvement Manager, Mrs. Bankert’s primary responsibility will be to insure that the hospital complies with the current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing a Critical Access Hospital. She will also educate and work with all hospital departments in the development and maintenance of a Quality Improvement Program. She will also assist in development and implementation of appropriate plans of action to improve quality of patient care. Her duties include filling in as needed for the hospital’s nursing supervisor and case manager.
Mrs. Bankert is a native of Hagerstown, Maryland. She has more than ten years of nursing experience. Her professional experience includes quality assurance management, supervisory positions in both inpatient and outpatient settings and delivering patient care in various areas including medical/surgical, ICU, emergency and operating room care.
Mrs. Bankert is a graduate of the Hagerstown Community College where she earned an Associates of Science degree in nursing. She worked in the Tyrone Hospital recovery room for approximately one and a half years. . Prior to joining Tyrone Hospital she held the position of Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Coordinator and Lead Nurse for Monocacy Surgery Center. Her professional background includes working as a as a staff nurse at UPMC Altoona, a nursing position in the emergency department at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland. She also worked in the surgical intensive care unit at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Mrs. Bankert organized Tyrone Regional Health Network’s Relay for Life Team for 2017 and serves as Team Captain. She also served as Relay for Life Team captain for Central Blair in 2016.
