Nutrition Counseling
Tyrone Regional Health Network/Tyrone Hospital provides nutritional counseling for outpatients as well as inpatients. A full-time registered dietitian (R.D.) provides the services.
Medical Nutrition Therapy is available for the following health conditions: diabetes, renal disease, cardiovascular disease, weight management, gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery, food allergies, inborn errors of metabolism, pregnancy, cancer, and general wellness.
Nutrition Counseling service hours are Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm. Those who need appointments at other times may be accommodated. Please discuss your appointment needs with the registered dietitian.
Nutrition counseling sessions are typically one-on-one and last one hour.
Most insurances cover nutrition counseling for diabetes and renal disease.
Individuals who are referred for nutritional counseling are generally seen within two weeks of a referral from their primary care physician or specialist.
Individuals need a physician referral/order for nutrition counseling. Orders may be faxed to (814)-682-1811.
