Respiratory Therapy

Respiratory therapy is a service for people of all ages who have difficulty breathing or cannot breathe on their own due to impaired or nonfunctioning lungs. Examples of patients who may need respiratory therapy include those with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchitis, lung cancer, stroke, drowning accidents, heart attacks, birth defects, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, or sleep apnea. Trauma victims and surgery patients may also receive respiratory therapy. In addition to treatment, respiratory therapy also includes education and diagnostic testing.
